Snow on My Parade

Cardigan: The Limited
 Shirt: Thrifted
 Skirt: Thrifted
Tights: Fred Meyer
 Shoes: Clarks
 Belt: Neighbor
It's Day 1!!! The nearly-easiest day of 30-for-30, I would imagine. It can't possibly be the easiest, because I spent quite a while yesterday deciding what outfit would be most appropriate to wear for the first day. It's a very important occasion, you see, with heavy guidelines on it (you can tell I'm an over-analytical teenage girl, can't you?) See, I couldn't possibly pick a boring, every-day kind of outfit, but if I started going all-out-unique the very first day, it would just be a bit odd. So, after much deliberation, this was deemed an appropriate first-day outfit.
I'm sporting all things thrifted, hand-me-down, and upscale K-mart, excepting my shoes and cardigan; but they were both from the outlet mall :)
With regards to the first picture: I'm getting mixed signals about it. On the one hand, my dear friend Olivia says I look positively gorgeous in it. I had myself been thinking it a rather flattering picture. However, my parents, when showed it, seemed to think differently. Their reaction was along the lines of, "yep!" Simple acknowledgement of the picture's existence was not exactly what I was expecting. So...what do YOU think?
Last night, it snowed, and "they" cancelled school. I do not like snow, and I think it should go away. Now. My friend Jonathan and I have long had plans to hunt down and murder the weather. Not the weatherman, mind you. The weather itself. With Weather gone, there will be no more snow, and I won't get stuck at the top of my hill!
Well, it's afternoon already (gasp!) and I haven't gotten any work done today. TTFN!

An Announcement

It's a cold, windy Tuesday afternoon in my corner of the world, and I'm sitting on my bed, sipping tea and apple juice and munching on lovely little snacks. There is little homework left to do for tomorrow, so I have decided to spend a few minutes on my dear little blogaroo to make an announcement (I think the only people who read this blog are in on it already, but who cares? I want to sound dramatic)!!! Are you ready for this? My darling friends Olivia, Sarah, Moriah, and I are going to do the 30 for 30 Wardrobe Remix Challenge of Epic Proportions! After discussing it long and hard ;) we have decided upon Wednesday as the chosen start date. And guess when Wednesday is??? Yup. To-morrow. I have had my 30 items picked since yesterday evening...the totals are:

-5 long-sleeve shirts (mostly sweaters of some persuasion)-

-3 Short sleeve shirts-

-2 Three-quarter sleeve shirts-

-5 tank tops (that's right. Five. Yes, I know it's the middle of winter)-

-6 cardigans and boleros-

-1 dress-

-4 skirts-

-1 pair of jeans-

-3 pairs of shoes (I know, they're odd shoes. But I'm and odd person :)-

So, starting tomorrow, these items will be my wardrobe for the next 30 days. I am already planning outfits in my head, though I have no idea how I'm going to come up with 30 different outfits. Accessories to the rescue (cheesy smile) :D !!!!! Hehe. Wish me luck! :)

P.S: to my bloggy buds out there, I can't wait to see your pictures!

That's a Huge Book!

Hello :) Today is a wonderfully lazy Sunday afternoon. So I decided to take pictures!

Why I am reading an Encyclopedia of Dictionaries is absolutely beyond me. Perhaps this is why I am looking off into the distance in the second picture?
Today before church my family and I went to the thrift store and took advantage of their Sunday deals (all clothes are just $1 each!) Usually when I go shopping anywhere, thrift store or otherwise, and try on jeans, I try on at least 10 pair, and none of them fit me the way I want. That's right. NONE. But today, I tried on three pairs, and guess how many I bought? You guessed it. THREE. Well, maybe you didn't guess. But I will just imagine you did :) Three pairs of jeans that are not falling off of me are now mine, for just $3. Muahahahahaha!
Chocolate cravings have just hit. Off to the kitchen!

It Must Take After Mary Poppins' Bag...

Closet-cleaning day! Long have I dreaded and anticipated this, waiting for a free day to tackle the pit of clutter. Now, the contents of my itty bitty closet have been piled up throughout my not-tiny room. How all that stuff fits in there is beyond me. The last few hours have been full of trying on all my clothes (even though I already know none of them fit), organizing, hanging, and the like. It's looking rather fabulous, if I do say so myself. Unfortunately, I have some strain of OCD but am cluttersome by nature...the two traits do not mix well at all!
Alas, my dear friend Olivianne over at her blog has just beaten me to an "Awkward and Awesome" post, so I shall look like a dreadful copycat. But I have been anticipating this post for a while, so I shall go ahead with it anyway!

Awkward:
-Eating the same thing for lunch every day during the school week. Especially when said lunch does not appear particularly appetizing.
-Eating in front of people in general. Have you ever thought about that?
-Wording something just a little bit wrong and accidentally sounding very dirty. Teenage guys are impossible to talk to!
-SHOW CHOIR. As I explained in yesterday's post, we have to flirt and hang on a guy's shoulder. And fight with another girl over him. Awwwwwwwwwkward!
-Facebook friend requests. On multiple occasions I have gotten friend requests from people that I can tell (from the mutual friends) go to my school, but I am quite certain I have never met them. Within a week of ignoring the request, I will inevitably meet the person.
-Facebook in general. People will say things over the internet that they would never say in person.

Awesome:

-Finding the exact wording of the bill I wanted to write for Olympia! Turns out Louisiana has already passed a bill on the same subject, so with a little copypasta, I had the perfect wording for an otherwise difficult-to-write bill

-My brother. He got me the best Christmas and birthday gifts ever! On the left is the plush elephant from the Purex commercial (I've been wanting this for a long time!) and on the right is Phil, a minion from Despicable Me.
-Despicable Me! It's definitely a favorite.
-(Sometimes awesome) Being allergic to sugar. How else could I eat apple pie for breakfast?

Live long and prosper!

Raising a Glass to Awkwardness

Today was an exceedingly long day, full of MOPS, walking, chemistry, government, and choir. Lots of choir. Show choir especially. We learned the choreography to "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" today. Let's just say there are two words that best describe it: Confusing and Awkward. This is the most involved choreography we've done before, which is a nice change for sure! It feels so much more like an actual show choir now, although we only have two weeks to get our act together! Unfortunately for the non-social butterflies like me, there is a level of flirtatiousness involved in this choreography. I was already not feeling very good, and to have to be hanging on the shoulder of one of my guy acquaintances/friends (who is younger than me, no less) and passive-agressively fighting with my dear friend Sarah over him just made my day that much more awkward.
But wouldn't life be boring if it wasn't awkward once in a while? That's my thought for the day.

Inspiration

Greetings. I am called Shahaf of the Great Crag. My home is here, in the mountains. It is good up here, away from people. People muddle my thoughts and cut off my communication with the butterflies. So, I live happily here, in my hut. Huts are good for the soul, and I try to keep my soul in excellent health; thus I only consume food once every day. I give the rest to my friends, the animals. Sometimes, I sit and talk to them as I eat my daily cucumber, and we chat with the trees and the wind. They have such hard lives, it breaks my heart (but I do not let it break my soul, for that must be intact when the world comes to an end)
